A Five Minute Beauty Fix for the Morning After a Late Meeting, a Hot Date or a Sick Baby
Every woman has experienced that morning when the night before, unfortunately, carries over into the look for today. We asked professional makeup artist and hairstylist Neena Malinich of Sassy Shears for some tips to help women look more meeting-ready the morning after.
PUFFY EYES
“Preparation H is a makeup artist’s wonder tool,” advised Neena Malinich of Sassy Shears, “How do you think those runway models keep looking fabulous during New York fashion week?” Keep it in your makeup bag to reduce inflammation in the under-eye area. Gently apply the product in a counter clockwise motion on the swollen area below your eye just above the orbital bone being careful not to allow it to migrate into the eye itself. Your ring finger works wonders to apply eye products without too much pressure.
BLOODSHOT OR “TIRED” EYES
Lack of sleep can make you look less than bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Brighten your eyes with any or all of these quick steps:
Eye Brightening Cream– Malinich likes Benefit Cosmetics’ Ooh La Lift eye cream that “lifts” eyes. The product boasts raspberry extract and light-reflecting pigments to brighten eyes instantly. Apply this to the under-eye area.
White Eyeliner – You may have noticed white eyeliner in the stores and wondered, “What’s that for?” White liner reflects light to brighten the eyes. Apply it on the waterline, or the top of the lower lash line, of the eye.
Cobalt Blue Mascara– Apply cobalt blue mascara, as a base, underneath your regular black or brown mascara. Cobalt makes the eyes “pop” and instantly brightens your face.
Lash Primer – Fight the strong urge to make your eyes blend into your face when you’re exhausted. You need to emphasize the right spots. When used under mascara, lash primer plumps up lashes to create fuller lashes and make eyes appear more open. For an all-in-one fix, try RevitaLash Volumizing Primer & Mascara in Raven.
TIRED, DULL SKIN
After a night on the town or stressing in front of the computer screen, your skin becomes tired too.
Cleanse and Moisturize –Wake up your face with an invigorating cleanser that gently exfoliates. There are many, quality products available in all price ranges. Follow up with moisturizer and drink a glass of ice water while you get ready. Late nights, especially those that involved a drink or two, can lead to dehydration. Water and moisturizer can help.
Brighten Cheeks – Peach cheek color will brighten any skin tone. Its natural, youth-inspired tint is fresh but not too bright. Sweep it onto the “apple” of cheeks then blend back toward the hairline.
If you were up all night preparing for your big presentation, the last thing you want to do is look haggard and worn. The better you look, the more confident you will feel. Five minutes of concerted effort might mean the difference between looking like the office superwoman, not something the cat dragged in.
