5 Summer Trends NOT to Wear in the Office
Summer time brings a lot of daring and bold trends into the fashion world. Colors get brighter, shirt straps become smaller or unapparent, and shorts get shorter. People’s street style changes heavily to go along with the weather changes. While these summer trends can be tempting to follow, be sure to keep them only included in your street style and out of the work place. Many of the summer trends are not work appropriate in the least bit. Do not forget that shorts should never be work to the office, and also keep a professional eye on how much skin is appropriate for you to show. Here are a few of the top trends that are out of the question for the office:
1. Spaghetti Straps/Strapless– Small straps should not be worn alone to the work place, and strapless shirt should never be worn to the work place. If you do decide to wear a spaghetti strap blouse make sure a cardigan or a blazer is worn on top. Another important thing to keep in mind is to not show cleavage. Many spaghetti strap blouses are notorious for having lower cuts, so if too much cleavage is showing save those blouses for your street style.
2. Crop Tops/Cut Outs– Crop tops are tricky to wear no matter what, and they should not be seen in an office setting. Showing your mid-drift should only be done when you feel fashionable inclined to outside of work. Cut outs on the sides of shirts are also inappropriate due to too much skin being shown. These types of shirts should just be worn on girls-days or any other kind of fun day out of work.
3. Open Backs/Backless– Open backs and backless dresses are especially not work appropriate. Low cut backs and showing a lot of skin is not something that should be done in a work setting. Although these dresses are trendy and cute they are mostly appropriate for nights-out or date-nights. However, if an open back dress is your only option you can cover up your back simply by wearing a cardigan or blazer.
4. Beach/Pool Wear– This may seem a little silly, but bathing suits should not be worn under your work clothes. It is very apparent when long straps are coming out of your blouse or are tied at the base of your neck. If necessary for plans after work, keep your swimsuits in a work tote to change into after you are off. Another thing to add is that flip-flops are not appropriate to wear in the office because they are too casual.
5. Baggy Boyfriend Jeans– Baggy boyfriend jeans have become popular to wear during the summer, but they are not popular in the office. Super loose fitting pants can be seen as frumpy in the work place, and holes or rips are not appropriate. Stick to dark wash jeans for a casual dress code or slacks for any other dress code.
