Tatum Fraites Defense and Government Consultant
Jennifer Lawrence is the super star that’s currently influencing defense and government consultant, Tatum Fraites.
The 25-year-old spends her days helping government organizations strategize to reduce their costs, break into new markets, and garner new costumers. With four years under her belt, plus a stint working at MTV’s corporate office, business is old-hat to Fraites.
The consultant names the American Hustle star as one of three fashion muses. “I think she has really good taste,” Fraites told SharpHeels. “She always looks great and she proves that you don’t always have to be a size zero to look good. A woman wearing a flattering size 10 will always look better than a poorly dressed size zero. Jennifer Lawrence does a great job of finding things that look good on her shape, and she always looks beautiful.”
Fraites’ consulting mentor is another one of her fashion influences. “She was the one who showed me that you didn’t have to rely on the pants-blazer-matching suit look. Seeing her work, and what she wore to do it had a huge impact on my personal style,” admits Fraites.
In fact, it was her mentor’s favorite designer labels that led Fraites to her third muse – fashion podcasts. “I watch a lot of podcasts on super high fashion and runway shows.” She notes that Fashion Network, Mod TV, and DSQUARED are her favorites. “Watching these gives me a lot of ideas about what people are wear and what looks can be made from high fashion shows. There’s also a lot of different models on the podcasts that I pay attention to.”

As for her thoughts on the portrayal of women in business, Fraites believes it’s slowly changing. “I think overall – regardless of gender – a lot of workplaces are more open to allowing their employees to express themselves through fashion. They’re becoming more embracing of piercings, and alternative looks in general.”
So what are that fashion dos and don’t that Fraites lives by? Her number one rule when dressing for work is to “dress for the next promotion or next interview – every day,” she admits that she rarely leaves the house without putting on a blazer. “Though this probably stems from my conservative roots. The runway or Jennifer Lawrence might disagree,” she laughs.
“Exuding a sense of confidence is most important. Whether it’s a blazer, slacks, and pearls; or jeans, a loose tank, and boots wearing what makes you feel confident will get you noticed. If you feel uncomfortable in your clothes people can tell.”
